Well...after our meeting on Sunday I was able to understand task 2. I think like you girls, I was trying to create task 3. I think things are going well with the PD.
I created my plan based on the two things that staff was the most interested in. Technology integration and writing strategies. Half of my staff preferred whole group and the other half preferred small group. For task two, I tried to create a whole group option and a small group option.
I would like to try to create Task 3 based on what the staff preferred most. I would like to hear their feedback. If not, then I will try to choose what I think would fit in my staff's schedule the best or try to receive feedback from my principal.
For the coaching cycle, I have modeled a lesson for Allyson. We have Fall break Thursday and Friday and has agreed to meet up over break to co-plan. She's been extremely flexible! We plan on teaching the lesson on Monday. The hardest part of the coaching process has been finding time in both of our schedules.
Erin, what is your coaching topic with Allyson? I'm sure you told me, but I don't remember. :) Nicole is an ECE student and has observations and courses to work around, so we had a few time issues, too.
ReplyDeleteHow did your PD presentation go Tuesday? Do you have feedback from your Principal? I feel like I'm on track now. I see the clear difference between Task 2 & 3. So you're going to base Task 3 on their feedback from Task 2?
I'm working with Allyson on Narrative writing. She felt her "weakest" area in teaching was writing. After we looked at our report cards, we found that it was the first writing style we had to teach.
ReplyDeleteMy presentation went well, my principal seemed more apt to do whole group. She really liked the educational apps. She felt that more of the staff would benefit from it. I think I will create Task 3 based of the feedback from my faculty. It seems like the logical thing to do :)
Great idea and yes it is the logical thing to do.
DeleteThat's great! I agree, I think PD becomes more beneficial and interesting when it covers what they want to learn. The co-planning session was really helpful in choosing roles for each of us. I was afraid it would be too detailed, but once we went through it we both felt much better about next week's session.
ReplyDeleteyour coaching cycle seems to be coming along! Sounds like she is pretty receptive. That's awesome you got to model a lesson. What was the lesson over?
ReplyDeleteI agree you should do task 3 on what they are most interested. I am still trying to figure out what my task three will be. Sounds like you've got a great start!
Kaitlin, I modeled the steps of narrative writing. That is the first type of writing we have to discuss with our first graders.
